Predicting the pattern morphology and verifying the predictions from instability analysis are the principal objectives of this work. The ability to control electrodeposition processes so that controlled growth of ordered, high-aspect-ratio structures can be achieved would enable facile fabrication of numerous devices. Therefore, the funding provided by UF/CASIS will provide the preliminary data needed to secure long-term and substantial external funding from NASA, DOE, and industry. For example, the successful demonstration of this work would enable the fabrication of patterned surfaces suitable for numerous applications, including microfluidic reactors, microscale heat exchangers, sensors, and catalytic converters.
